Jamaica Day is an opportunity for the citizens of Quebec and Canada to experience Jamaican culture as we celebrate our independence. The main objective is to present Jamaican culture, which is comprised of food, music and cultural traditions. Jamaica Day was first held in 1982 in Kent Park in the Cote-des-Neiges Borough, it then moved to Van Horne park, followed by two years at Hippodrome Blue Bonnets before moving to Parc Jean-Drapeau to become part of Les Weekends du Monde. Every year we strive to present a cross section of artists representing Reggae music and it's influence, reach, and acceptance worldwide.
Les Weekends du Monde typically takes place during the first two weeks in the month of July and Jamaica Day is held on the first Saturday. Plan your yearly schedule around this date and come "Experience Jamaica in a Day".
